Disaster Relief Updates! Updated 2/1/08

Prayer Requests

Dear AZ Disaster Relief Workers,
From time to time it is necessary to call upon our team as a family to unite in certain prayer needs. Today I have been impressed to call upon the AZ Disaster Relief family to pray for two very specific needs.
First, I ask that we pray for Lary Hyde and the rest of the Disaster Relief Team at FSBC Avondale. They are in the process of ministering to a 13 year old young man named Michael who is in the final stages of his battle with cancer. They are currently putting together a fundraising event to offset costs that the family has and will continue to incur. And we need to partner with them in prayer in two ways. One, that God would provide comfort for this young man who has battled this disease; and second, for the team that will be doing all the work for the fundraising dinner and ministry to the family. If you are interested in being a part of this, do not hesitate to contact Lary Hyde for more details.

Next, I would ask you to pray throughout the weekend and specifically, Monday from 11:00am – 2:30pm for Dan Porth. Dan serves on our State Leadership Team and will be in Miami, FL, in some very strategic meetings. In this matter pray that God would pave the way for great success for Dan and those he will be meeting with.

Once again, thanks for allowing me to call on our Disaster Relief family to partner together in prayer. Look forward to seeing you February 15-16, at our state Disaster Relief rally and training event.

It’s a joy to serve alongside you.
Mitchell A. McDonald

DISASTER RELIEF ALERT

The Nevada Disaster Relief Team is asking for assistance in Fernly, NV. This is in response to the extensive flooding that has recently occurred in that area.
They desperately need assistance with Mud Out. They will accept what ever time anyone has to give. 1 day, 1 week, a weekend etc. They also have said that you do not need to be trained in Mud Out to be able to respond. They will team up untrained people with trained people and when you are finished you will come away trained in the Mud Out unit.
Please be in prayer about this need, that we can truly demonstrate the Love Of God in this predominately LDS area.

If you think you might be able to help out even for a weekend please contact Mitch McDonald as soon as possible. He will have all of your details about where to go, what to take, etc.
You can reach Mitch at 480-226-0925 or email him at mitchmc@azsobaptist,org or contact the State Convention office at 1-800-687-2431.
